The concept of sustainable development implies the process of achieving a balance between economic, social and environmental requirements, and in today's time of major environmental changes on our planet, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical behavior and responsible corporate management. Our goal is to continuously reduce the direct impact on the environment through our own activities, through compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Environmental protection as one of the priorities
Colas Hrvatska is one of the first companies in Croatia to implement an integrated management system for environmental protection, both on asphalt bases, quarries and gravel pits, and on the construction sites themselves.
We take the potential risks of environmental pollution extremely seriously, especially at our asphalt and emulsion production plants.
Our environmental management policy includes
determination and constant analysis of significant aspects and impacts on the environment in the business domain,
constant alignment with applicable laws and by-laws,
taking appropriate measures to reduce possible harmful effects on the environment,
constant improvement and prevention of harmful effects on the environment.
In order to implement the stated policy, Colas Hrvatska takes care of the constant training of employees with the aim of developing expertise and awareness of environmental protection, and we also take care of the indirect impact that is realized by the activities of our suppliers and business partners. New, environmentally friendly technologies and processes are being introduced, and we are trying to improve the results of environmental protection with preventive measures.
Waste management
In accordance with the postulates of sustainable development, Colas Hrvatska introduced the Waste Management procedure, the purpose of which is to define responsibilities and procedures within the scope of its own business processes. The mentioned procedure is in accordance with ISO standards 9001:2015, 14001:2015 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007, as well as valid legal regulations related to environmental protection and sustainable waste management.
Caring about human health and environmental impact
Waste management is carried out in a way that does not endanger human health and does not lead to harmful effects on the environment, especially in order to avoid the following:
the risk of pollution of the sea, water, soil and air and endangering biological diversity,
occurrence of discomfort exemplified by noise and/or smell,
harmful impact on areas of cultural-historical, aesthetic and natural values and other values that are of special interest,
explosion or fire.
